Drill a 150mm hole in the ice, put the pump in the hole, pump as much water as needed, but to a maximum level of about 5cm of water onto the ice at a time to get as good ice as possible. Then move to the next hole and repeat. Our recommendation is to have boots with crampons on when operating the pump.
